Quinta do Gradil, Sauvignon Blanc/Arinto 2019 (6 pack)
- Region: Portugal, Lisboa
- Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc, Arinto
Quinta do Gradil is a long-established winery located only an hour away from Lisbon, Portugal. The first references to Quinta do Gradil date all the way back to 1492!
The current owner of the winery, Luís Vieira, purchased Quinta do Gradil in 1999. A modern and forward-thinking man, he understood that the vineyards and winery needed to be renovated in order to produce upscale wines. He wanted to showcase the brilliant terroir of the region and showcase Lisboa wines - a region that is often neglected when we discuss top Portuguese wines. The head winemaker of the Quinta, Tiago Correia, blends tried and true traditional methods such as hand harvesting and stone pressing of wines with state-of-the-art machinery in the winery.
We list a few wines from Quinta do Gradil, and are consistently impressed with the quality, diversity of style and incredibly fair pricing available from their range. The Quinta do Gradil Branco from the 1492 range is a refreshing blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Arinto (a local Portuguese variety) and is an ideal summer wine. It is aromatic from the Sauvignon Blanc, while the Arinto adds a bit of texture and flavours of lemon zest. Pair with a cod dish and a bit of sunshine, and you'll nearly convince yourself that you're on holiday in Lisbon!
