It's finally here. There's no need to re-litigate the quadrennial disappointment of Ireland at the Rugby World Cup. Again Ireland enter the tournament in top spot on the rankings, but most will agree we are better placed this year. You can reasonably point to a tough draw, but had we topped the group in 2019 we would have met South Africa, the eventual champions. You can only play what's in front of you, and all we can do is support the team and enjoy the tournament...with some sensational wine!
Representing Argentina in Pool D, Vinilo White Blend is a gorgeous white from the Barbarians collective (who incidentally take their name from the Rugby team). In Group C, we have Last Stand Shiraz representing Australia, while Desafinado Tinto represents the upstart Portugese team. Ireland's potential quarter finals opponents New Zealand in Group B New Zealand have the epic Escarpment 'Noir' Pinot Noir, while (technically) also a potential opponent Italy have the stunning Stocco Fruilano.

Representing France, Tacherons Pinot Noir is perfect to pitch up against the All Blacks in the first match - the battle of the Pinots! Filling in the gaps are wines from all the areas that house the various team bases are Domaine de Seailles 'Cubik', Uva Non Grata Gamay, Alo Vert Imperial Blanc & Famille de Skalli Collection Blanc.
