Grab the popcorn and your glass and get cosy!
A Good Year (2006)
If this film doesn’t make you want to pack your bags and run away to Provence, we don’t know what will. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film follows cold-hearted Max Skinner (Russell Crowe), as he returns to a Provence vineyard where he spent most of his childhood.
Following the death of a relative, Max is faced with an ultimatum. Will he sell the vineyard where he grew up or embrace his new life as a vintner?
Enjoy a glass of wine, whilst you marvel at the beauty and slow-paced life in Provence. We will say no more. But if you like witty dialogue, beautiful scenery, and a fabulous soundtrack, this is the film for you!
The Secret of Santa Vittoria (1969)
If you’re a fan of golden oldies, we have just the ticket. This black and white film chronicles the people of Santa Vittoria, a small Italian town, and their fight against the Nazis. When the townsfolk learn that German soldiers are en route to seize large quantities of wine, the villagers have to act fast.
Exporting wine is their main source of income, so they’re compelled to protect it at all costs. Luckily, their new mayor, played by Anthony Quinn, has a cunning plan.
A Walk in the Clouds (1995)
This quintessential 90s romantic drama is set in the stunning Napa Valley. The film begins when Paul Sutton (Keanu Reeves) returns from fighting in World War II. Struggling to come to terms with the horrors that he witnessed, Paul finds it difficult to return to normal life. In addition, he struggles to reconnect with his wife, Betty.
When his marriage begins to crumble, Paul leaves his estranged wife in search of wine. Arriving in Sacramento, Sutton not only finds a new life but a new friend. Victoria, daughter of a vineyard owner, needs his help and Paul isn’t one to back down. Get cosy with wine-in-hand and tissues at the ready for this tear-jerker love story.
Bottle Shock (2008)
Based on The Judgement of Paris, this film is about the shocking wine tasting event that changed the global wine market forever. Wine connoisseurs, like Steven Spurrier (Alan Rickman), believed that French wine was in a league of its own.
Set in the 1970s, this light-hearted rom-com details the surprising rise of Californian wine. Chris Pine, Bill Pullman and Rachel Taylor star alongside the late Alan Rickman in this film full of love, laughs, and truly spectacular scenery.
A Year in Burgundy (2013)
